Discover three simple practices to help you reset your energy, clear your mind, and reconnect with your power — anytime, anywhere.

In a fast-paced world, it's easy to feel disconnected — stuck in your head, overwhelmed, or just off. According to Jaycee Gossett, founding teacher and VP of Experience at The Class, there's a way back to yourself. Through intentional movement, breathwork, and mindfulness, you can shift your energy and feel more grounded, open, and alive.

A dancer by training, Jaycee doesn’t just teach you to move — she teaches you to feel. Her method? A mix of movement, mindfulness, and music designed to strengthen your body while creating space to move and process emotional energy.

We caught up with Jaycee ahead of her upcoming retreat in Lenox, Aug. 14-17, to explore three transformative practices she uses to recalibrate, re-energize, and reconnect.

1. Move to Process, Not Just Perform

Movement is one of the most direct ways to shift your emotional energy. But unlike traditional fitness, The Class isn’t about perfecting form or chasing reps — it’s about moving to feel.

“Our bodies hold our stories — our stress, joy, grief, hopes,” says Jaycee. “Movement gives those stories a way to be seen, felt, and released. That might look like shaking out anxiety, sweating through grief, or jumping into joy.”

Through a cathartic combination of simple, repetitive exercises, guided breath, and music, The Class helps you drop out of your analytical mind and into your body. It’s a full-sensory experience designed to help you clear mental clutter, feel your feelings, and remember who you are beneath it all.

2. Breathe to Shift Your State Instantly

Breath is one of the simplest, fastest tools we have for changing how we feel. And it’s always with us. As Jaycee explains, “When we change our breath, we change our state. Deep, conscious breathing sends a signal to the body that it’s safe. It grounds us in the present moment and helps release stuck or stagnant energy.”

Jaycee recommends trying this simple breathwork practice right now to get started:

  • Inhale for 4 counts

  • Hold for 4 counts

  • Exhale for 4 counts

Repeat for a few rounds with your eyes closed. Known as 4-4-4 breathing, this technique helps regulate your nervous system, reduce stress, and bring you back into your body.

Breath can energize, soothe, or clear stuck energy depending on how it's used. It’s “incredibly intelligent and incredibly simple,” Jaycee reminds us.

3. Pause to Tune Inward

You don’t need a silent retreat or hours of meditation to shift your energy – only a minute of intentional presence.

“Tuning inward doesn’t necessarily require hours of stillness. It just requires a willingness to pause and listen deeply,” says Jaycee. She recommends starting small: Place a hand on your heart before a meeting, take a breath before reacting, or set a daily phone reminder with a mantra or check-in question.

One of her go-to mantras when she needs to re-center?

I call all parts of myself back to me. I reclaim my energy and my presence. Light in me and around me. Love in me and around me. I am protected. I am whole.

These small moments of connection throughout the day help build a powerful habit of coming home to yourself.

Experience It for Yourself

For Jaycee, teaching The Class isn’t just about movement; it’s about creating sacred space for transformation. “Retreats offer a magical pause,” she says. “A space to open up a door to deeper connection — with ourselves, with each other, and with nature.”
